IHG Hotels and Resorts has launched its premium brand in the Northern Territory, while Accor has a new property on the way for Western Sydney.

Converted from a former office building, voco Darwin Suites has opened in the city centre of the Northern Australian capital, offering 88 one and two-bedrooms suites, each with a kitchen or kitchenette.

The new property also has a meeting space measuring 86m2, able to host events of up to 60 attendees.

“voco Darwin Suites is a proud moment for our team and for the territory,” said IHG’s portfolio general manager, Sean DeSouza.

“This opening brings a globally recognised premium brand into the heart of Darwin, while still delivering a distinctly local sense of warmth, personality and connection.

“Darwin is a city with incredible energy, from its events and business community to its natural landscapes, cultural experiences and dry season lifestyle.

“Our goal is to give guests a premium, comfortable and memorable base from which to experience it all.”

voco Darwin Suites is located next door to Darwin Entertainment Centre and about 25 minutes’ walk from Darwin Convention Centre.

Meanwhile, further south, Accor will open The Sebel Sydney Parramatta this August.

The new-build hotel offers 51 studio and one and two-bedroom suites in close proximity to Riverside Theatres and a nine-minute walk to Powerhouse Parramatta, which is due to open later this year with several event spaces.

Alongside its room stock, The Sebel in Parramatta will have an all-day Italian restaurant and a rooftop bar and terrace.

“The Sebel Sydney Parramatta will offer a really attractive extended-stay experience to a destination that is entering an exciting new chapter,” said Accor Pacific’s COO, Adrian Williams.

“Parramatta is evolving rapidly as a centre for business, culture and visitation, and this hotel is well placed to meet growing demand for high-quality accommodation that offers the comforts of home.”

With Western Sydney International airport due to open later this year, Parramatta is seeing a hotel development boom. A QT is expected to open this year, while a Crowne Plaza and a Marriott were announced in 2025 and an InterContinental is also in the works.
