The venue held 105 events between July 2025 and June 2026, with repeat business making up more than 60 per cent of the events hosted at GCCEC.
Medical, wellbeing, education and retail events were amongst the fields leading the charge for events at the convention centre over the last year.
“Business events are a powerful driver of high value visitation, bringing people to the Gold Coast with a clear purpose to connect, learn, collaborate and do business,” said GCCEC’s general manager, Nick Jeffrey.
“Delegates are not just attending an event; they are experiencing the city.
“Delegates stay in our hotels, dine in local restaurants, visit attractions and experience the city first-hand, creating opportunities for return visitation, future investment and greater awareness of the Gold Coast as a business events destination.”
Looking ahead the centre has locked in a number of multi-year event contracts which will buoy the venue’s future economic contributions.
“The Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre is a cornerstone of the city’s visitor economy, consistently hosting large-scale events ranging from concerts and sporting matches to conferences and exhibitions all year round,” said Experience Gold Coast’s head of destination and engagement, Rachel Hancock.
“With business event visitors spending, on average, 57 per cent more than leisure visitors, the sector delivers significant benefits for accommodation providers, restaurants, attractions and businesses across the Gold Coast.”
The Gold Coast is a powerful player in Queensland’s business events ecosystem with more than half of all business events held in the state taking place on the Gold Coast.
