The company has reached an agreement with Kelsian Group to purchase its SeaLink tourism portfolio for $161 million.
The portfolio includes several business events products – superyacht The Jackson, which primarily services private charter events on Sydney Harbour, alongside Starship Sydney and Starship Aqua, which also both primarily service the events market on Sydney Harbour; and Kingfisher Bay Resort on K’gari – formerly known as Fraser Island – which offers considerable event space.
The deal also includes Captain Cook Cruise operations in Sydney and Perth and SeaLink ferries around Australia.
“This agreement marks an exciting step forward for Journey Beyond,” said Journey Beyond CEO Chris Tallent.
“We are proud to broaden our portfolio with a collection of highly respected tourism businesses that share our commitment to delivering extraordinary guest experiences.
“Importantly, they are highly complementary to our existing brands.
“They create new opportunities for guests to seamlessly extend their journeys across Australia – whether that’s transitioning from rail to reef, river to resort or city to sea – and further cements Journey Beyond’s leadership in experiential tourism.”
The sale is subject to regulatory approvals and is expected to be completed in the first half of 2027.
Alongside this most recent purchase, Journey Beyond reached an agreement with the Indigenous Land and Sea Corporation late last year to acquire the operations for the sprawling Ayers Rock Resort at Uluru, through the sale of Voyages Indigenous Tourism Australia to Journey Beyond.
