Westin hotel bound for the Gold Coast
Marriott International has inked a deal with M Property to bring its Westin brand to the Gold Coast in 2029.

The hotel is expected to offer 115 hotel rooms and 23 suites, located in the first 15 floors of a 42-storey new-build, mixed-use development in Surfers Paradise.

The Westin Gold Coast is also anticipated to offer 310m2 of event space across two rooms, alongside a restaurant and bar, an infinity pool with a pool bar, a gym and a day spa.

“The Westin Gold Coast represents a natural fit between brand and location, and we already see strong performance across our existing Westin portfolio, both in key domestic and international source markets for the Gold Coast,” said Marriott International’s director of hotel development for Australia, New Zealand and the the Pacific, Tristan Cooper.

“We are excited to welcome Westin to the Gold Coast and introduce a genuine point of difference to the market.”

M Property has also signed an agreement with La Vie Hotels & Resorts who will operate the hotel under the Westin brand.

“Being appointed to manage Westin Gold Coast is a proud milestone for La Vie Hotels & Resorts and a strong endorsement of the platform we have built across the Asia-Pacific region,” said La Vie Hotels & Resorts’ CEO Jerry Xu.

“We have tremendous respect for the vision that [the] M Property team have brought to this development and we are honoured in the trust they have placed for La Vie to bring that vision to life.

“This landmark signing with Marriott International reflects the quality of the project and the continued growth of La Vie as a leading independent hotel management platform.

“Together we look forward to delivering a world-class hotel experience and setting a new benchmark for hospitality on the Gold Coast.”

This is the second Marriott property to come under management by La Vie this year, after the company was announced as the operator for Le Méridien Lindeman Island Resort and Spa in the Whitsundays in May. The former Club Med resort is currently undergoing a $60 million renovation and is expected to reopen late next year.

The Westin Gold Coast will further boost Marriott’s presence on the Gold Coast, building on already-open properties, JW Marriott Gold Coast and the Sheraton Grand Mirage Resort, Gold Coast, and adding to a pipeline of four other Marriott hotels in development: AC Hotel by Marriott Gold Coast, a rework of the existing Vibe property, expected to open this year, The Ritz-Carlton Gold Coast and Marina Mirage, a Luxury Collection Resort, both expected in 2028, and, further ahead, a St. Regis Gold Coast.
