Second event space to open at Manly Wharf

Another event space on the upper level of Manly Wharf in Sydney’s Northern Beaches will open this December.

The Shelly Room will be able to host 120 seated or 200 attendees for standing events.

The space features floor-to-ceiling glass along one waterfront side, windows along a second side and a blush stone bar against one wall with mirrors behind – and along the fourth wall – reflecting the ocean back to the room. Handcrafted glass chandeliers and custom carpet are also part of the space.

The new space joins the Freshwater Room, which has a larger capacity of 300 for seated galas and opened last November.

The food and beverage served in both the new Shelly Room and the existing Freshwater Room are bespoke to each event.

“The Shelly Room has been designed to capture everything people love about celebrating at Manly Wharf, but in a more intimate way,” said Adam Flaskas, founder of Artemus Group, which bought Manly Wharf in 2024.

“We wanted to create a space where smaller celebrations could still feel like a major occasion, with beautiful design, incredible food and spectacular Sydney Harbour views.”

Artemus Group are also responsible for the sprawling Howard Smith Wharves in Brisbane, which has been expanding its offering in recent years – with more significant improvements to the precinct still to come.

Artemus Group’s director of sales, Sally Pulford, said the Shelly Room will mean Manly Wharf will appeal to new event audiences.

“Not every celebration needs 300 people. Some of the best events are the ones where everyone in the room knows each other, and the Shelly Room really lends itself to that,” said Pulford.

“The Shelly Room brings a new sense of warmth and intimacy to our events offering, while still delivering that unmistakable Manly Wharf experience.”

The Manly Ferry departs from the Manly Wharf precinct, providing a direct, non-stop connection to Sydney’s CBD in 20 to 30 minutes.
