Chair of Perth’s convention bureau, Bradley Woods, became a Member of the Order of Australia (AM) on Monday.

Woods’ AM honour is for “significant service to the tourism and hospitality industry, and to the community of Western Australia”.

In addition to his role at the helm of Business Events Perth’s board, a position he took on in 2021, Woods is also the CEO of the Australian Hotels Association in Western Australia and was on the board of Tourism Australia between 2017 and 2023.

On LinkedIn, Woods said he was “deeply honoured” by the appointment, adding that it “reflects a contribution built over many years alongside extraordinary colleagues, organisations and partnerships”.

“I have been fortunate to work in roles that have helped shape and strengthen our sector, including long standing leadership with the Australian Hotels Association, as well as contributions through Tourism Australia, Tourism Western Australia, Tourism Accommodation Australia, Business Events Perth and a range of national and state advisory and governance bodies,” said Woods.

“This honour also reflects the collective efforts of dedicated teams, board members, industry partners, colleagues, educators and community organisations united by a shared commitment to a strong and sustainable tourism and hospitality sector.”

Business Events Perth chief executive Gareth Martin offered congratulations to Woods on behalf of the bureau, calling the appointment a “well-deserved honour”.

“This recognition reflects Bradley’s decades of service to the tourism, business events and hospitality industries and the WA community at large,” said Martin.

“His leadership, generosity and advocacy have helped create lasting opportunities for connection, collaboration and progress across Western Australia and nationally.

“We are very proud to have Bradley as our chair, and this honour is a fitting tribute to his significant contribution.”
