Avani Cypress Lakes will bring together Oaks Cypress Lakes Resort and the co-located Elysia Wellness Retreat, creating a 204-key offering with an abundance of event space in what Minor Hotels is calling “Australia’s largest integrated resort wellness precinct”.
The new resort officially launches on October 1, 2026.
The new unified resort features an existing 24 event spaces, capable of hosting events of up to 672 pax in theatre, and an existing 18-hole golf course, alongside several new offerings: three pickleball courts, an outdoor cinema, a pool bar and outdoor cold plunge pools.
As part of the brand transformation, Elysia Wellness Retreat will become AvaniWell at Cypress Lakes Resort, with 70 wellness suites and 26 treatment rooms alongside a magnesium pool, infrared saunas, the new outdoor cold plunge pools, 10 Pilates reformers and event spaces for groups.
“We believe the Hunter Valley has all the hallmarks necessary to establish itself as Australia’s home of wellness,” said Minor Hotels Australasia’s chief operating officer, Craig Hooley.
“From winery visits and long-table lunches to Pilates classes, cold plunges and educational seminars, modern wellness is personal, flexible and increasingly integrated into everyday travel.
“Avani Cypress Lakes Resort has been designed around this shift, allowing guests to incorporate wellness into a family holiday, corporate retreat, golf escape or weekend break.
“The launch reflects Minor Hotels’ confidence in the continued growth of wellness-led and experiential travel across Australia, particularly in regional destinations.”
The Hunter Valley property is just over two hours’ drive from Sydney and an hour’s drive from Newcastle Airport.
