The young convention centre in New Zealand’s capital is expanding its technical chops with the help of external AV suppliers.

NW Group and Streamliner Productions have both been named as preferred production suppliers for Tākina, following a competitive procurement process.

“Appointing NW Group and Streamliner as preferred suppliers is a natural next step for us,” said the general manager of venues for Tākina Events, Andrew Dorrington.

“Both teams have been delivering outstanding work at Tākina since we opened, and formalising these partnerships means our clients can book with even greater confidence.

“Our in-house AV team remains at the heart of every event we deliver, and together with NW Group and Streamliner, we now have the depth and flexibility to make any vision a reality.”

The new AV model at the convention centre is designed to boost the capabilities of the in-house AV team.

Both NW Group and Streamliner have delivered significant events at Tākina since it opened in mid-2023.

NW Group helmed the AV for the convention centre’s first ever event, Festival for the Future 2023, while Streamliner was responsible for production for Harcourts HX 2024, one of the most technically complex events held at Takina so far.

“NW Group has been part of Tākina’s story since the very beginning, and we couldn’t be more proud to be formalising that relationship as a preferred supplier,” said NW Group’s Wellington GM, Lizzi Lovegrove.

“The collaboration between our team and the Tākina Events AV team has been exceptional, and together we are well placed to deliver world-class events for clients with the highest expectations.”

NW Group is also the in-house AV provider for the newly opened New Zealand International Convention Centre (NZICC) in Auckland.

“Becoming a preferred supplier and event partner of Tākina is a milestone we’re proud of,’ said Streamliner Productions’ owner, Richard Manu.

“Tākina gives us the room to realise technically complex, visually ambitious productions in Wellington, and we look forward to continuing to create bold, high-impact events here alongside the team at Tākina.”
