Australia’s international border may have reopened, but pandemic inspired business events trade show Get Local is set to continue in 2023, after a successful debut in February.
The show focussed on the Australasian market will return to ICC Sydney on June 22 and 23, 2023.
Placing the show in the winter months – after several postponements moved the inaugural event from winter to summer – is a deliberate move from the event’s organisers in anticipation of a continued high volume of business expected to flow into the first quarter of 2022 and to allow both new product to emerge from suppliers and the desire for it amongst planners.
“By June 2023 we anticipate the next wave of new product offerings will be at their peak and it will be timely for suppliers to share with planners what is available,” said Get Local co-founder Donna Kessler.
“We also anticipate that by this time business event planners will be looking for new and exciting product.”
The show will continue to operate without prescheduled appointments and include a speaking program and several networking opportunities.
“We have always recognised that planners are busy and don’t want to be locked into meetings with suppliers they simply don’t have business for which is why we again won’t be having hosted buyers and pre-scheduled appointments,” said Get Local’s other co-founder Gary Bender.
“What we will have is an event that is conducive to good quality business.”
This year’s inaugural Get Local, which was the first major trade event for the industry since the pandemic began, attracted 1,038 participants including 150 exhibitors, more than 500 buyers and speakers from both inside and outside the industry.
