Accor seals three-property deal in Fiji
Accor is set to open three new properties in Fiji, including a second Sofitel in Denarau.

The openings, all new builds, set for this year and next, are part of partnership with Yavu Collective, a Fijian investment and development company, which also owns the original Sofitel in Denarau.

“Our journey with Accor spans two decades and this next phase reflects our shared belief in creating destinations that are both globally relevant and deeply rooted in Fiji,” said Yavu Collective’s CEO Vincent Macquet.

“As a locally owned company, we are committed to developing hospitality experiences that celebrate culture, support communities, and contribute to the country’s long-term prosperity. Together with Accor, we are proud to bring these projects to life and to continue shaping the future of tourism in Fiji.”

Two of the properties – a Sofitel and a TRIBE hotel – will be located together with the original Fijian Sofitel on Denarau Island.

The new Sofitel Fiji Vatu Talei is expected to open in early 2027, offering 176 rooms, several dining establishments and other elements, across a 10-acre site.

“The Pacific is a strategic market for Sofitel, representing almost 50 per cent of our most loyal guests globally,” said David Fraser, vice president of operations for Sofitel Legend, Sofitel, MGallery and Emblems for Accor in the Pacific.

“Our commitment here is strong, underscored by renovations at Sofitel Sydney Wentworth, planned refurbishments for Sofitel Queenstown and Sofitel Broadbeach, and the continued evolution in Fiji with Sofitel Vatu Talei.

“Sofitel Vatu Talei, conceived to reflect Sofitel elegance and rich Fijian culture, is a highly considered addition perfectly aligning with our vision for luxury resort experiences in key destinations.”

TRIBE Na Tomba will open later this year in the same precinct on Denarau Island, with 118 keys, including hotel rooms and two-bedroom apartments.

The TRIBE property will also add meeting space to Denarau Island, with a ballroom that can host up to 280 delegates standing or 140 pax seated at round tables and a boardroom for 18, alongside pre-function space.

Also opening in 2026, in August, Accor will introduce The Sebel brand into Fiji, in Wailoaloa, fronting onto the beach near the airport.

The Sebel Nuku Loaloa Living will offer 76 keys, including one- and two-bedroom apartments and three-bedroom villas. The property will also offer a restaurant and bar, a pool and a recreation and wellness centre.

“This partnership with Yavu Collective represents a defining moment for Accor in the Pacific,” said Accor Pacific’s chief operating officer, Adrian Williams.

“Fiji continues to go from strength to strength as one of the Pacific region’s most sought-after destinations, particularly for Australian and New Zealand travellers, drawn by its natural beauty, rich culture and warm hospitality.

“Bringing these brands into one destination through a single, trusted partner reflects both the strength of our relationship and our shared vision for Fiji’s future as a globally recognised, experience-led tourism destination.

“Each brand has been carefully selected to play a distinct role, from Sofitel as a culturally immersive luxury anchor to TRIBE with its unstoppable social vibe, and The Sebel as a sophisticated, stylish place for longer stays.”
