The 31-floor new-build hotel in Haymarket will be 200m from Central Station and close to Sydney convention centre in Darling Harbour.
The upper upscale hotel will offer 328 rooms, 218m2 of event space, a restaurant, a lobby bar, a pool with a pool bar and a gym.
“The signing of Australia’s first Radisson RED marks an important milestone in our Australasia expansion plan,” said Radisson Hotel Group’s executive vice president and global chief development officer, Elie Younes.
“Radisson RED is a distinctive brand that offers a relevant and impactful proposition to both guests and owners.
“We are excited to partner with Ceerose on this project and are grateful for their trust in our brands and people.”
Founder of the hotel’s developer, Ceerose, Edward Doueihi, was equally enthusiastic about the development.
“Radisson RED Sydney Haymarket has been conceived as a destination that reflects the energy and transformation taking place across this part of Sydney,” he said.
“Its location at the gateway to the CBD, close to Central Station, Tech Central, and some of the city’s most important visitor and business precincts, creates a compelling opportunity for a new lifestyle hotel.
“We are delighted to partner with Radisson Hotel Group to bring a distinctive, globally recognized brand to this landmark development.”
Radisson currently has a very small presence in Australia – just one property in Melbourne under its Park Inn by Radisson brand, and The Merchant Hotel in Brisbane, which falls under the Radisson Individuals brand.
There was a Radisson in Sydney until last year, when the 364-room Radisson Blu Plaza Hotel, located a few blocks back from Circular Quay, became Paradox Sydney.
