The Moreton Island resort in Southeast Queensland will offer a set of cabanas on the beachfront that can be hired exclusively for events.

There will be 20 cabanas in total, with each able to seat six to eight people. All 20 will be available for buyouts for conferences, product launches or retreats of up to 160 delegates.

‘The Tangalooma Dunes Cabana Club is an Australian first, a dedicated beachfront precinct where event guests can connect, relax and enjoy the island in a whole new way,” said Tangalooma Island Resort director, David James.

“For event organisers looking for something extraordinary, this offers a level of exclusivity and natural beauty that simply can’t be replicated in a city hotel ballroom.”

The cabana club is available for event hire from this coming spring, with event organisers able to secure the setting up to two years in advance.

Located a 75-minute boat ride from Brisbane, Tangalooma Island Resort offers a variety of different accommodation options, from hotel rooms to villas and apartments rated between 3.5 and 4 stars, alongside indoor conferencing space for up to 300 delegates in theatre. Activities on and around the island include snorkelling, handfeeding wild dolphins, kayaking, sand dune tobogganing and whale watching.

“Investments like the Tangalooma Dunes Cabana Club [are] a standout example of how unique, experience-led venues can elevate Queensland’s appeal for conferences, incentives and corporate retreats, offering something genuinely differentiated from traditional city-based venues,” aid Queensland Tourism Industry Council (QTIC) CEO, Natassia Wheeler.

“To see an Australian-first concept like this come to life in such an iconic location speaks to the confidence in our visitor economy and the growing demand for business events that blend productivity with immersive, destination-led experiences.

“Continued investment in high-quality, distinctive event infrastructure will be critical to attracting new business, encouraging longer stays and ensuring Queensland remains competitive in securing major conferences and corporate events on the national and global stage.”
