The frequency and capacity boost will help alleviate pressures on flights between Australia and New Zealand and Europe created by the Middle East conflict, which has disrupted key regional aviation hubs in the United Arab Emirates and Qatar.
From July 13, Singapore Airlines will increase flights between Singapore and Manchester in the UK from five per week to daily.
On October 25, the airline’s second service between Singapore and London Gatwick will increase from three times per week to daily. This will see Singapore Airlines’ daily flights to London jump to six, with four services already touching down at Heathrow every day, alongside the existing daily service to Gatwick.
Also in late October, Singapore Airlines will debut a new service from Singapore to Madrid via Barcelona, which will operate five times a week. At roughly the same time, the thrice-weekly Singapore-Milan-Barcelona service will be cancelled and services between Singapore and Milan which currently operate four times a week will jump to daily.
Meanwhile a new service between Singapore and Munich will launch on October 26, operating three times a week. There is already another daily service between Singapore and Munich, which will continue to operate, increasing flights between the two cities to 10 per week.
All of these services remain subject regulatory approval and will run until March 27, 2027.
“Europe is an important market for Singapore Airlines, and these adjustments reflect our commitment to it,” said Singapore Airlines’ senior vice president of marketing planning, Dai Haoyu.
“We are seeing strong demand for travel to Europe, and increasing frequencies to key destinations such as Manchester, Milan, Munich and London Gatwick in response.
“Madrid is also an increasingly popular tourist destination, as well as a financial and business hub. These new services will give our customers more choice and greater value when planning their travel.”
Singapore Airlines currently operates 138 services between Singapore and Australian cities each week.
