The first phase of the renovation is focussed on The Leea Poolside, Garden and Common, an open-air precinct which will also be made available for exclusive use for business event groups.
“Privately enclosed yet just steps from the city centre, the open-air venue will be the vibrant social hub of the hotel, offering premium hospitality, a breezy resort atmosphere and a standard of design and dining that will feel genuinely fresh to the CBD,” said Prendiville Group Regional CEO Garrett Prendiville.
“This is the beginning of a new chapter for The Leea and a new tourism offering for Darwin: an elevated boutique lifestyle hotel that reflects the unique, laid-back energy of the city, curated for both corporate and leisure travellers.”
This is the first property in the Northern Territory for Prendiville Group, which owns and operates a portfolio of hospitality establishments, primarily in Western Australia, including Samphire Rottnest and Sandalford Wines.
The group has already delivered a variety of upgrades to the Darwin hotel’s existing meeting spaces which can host between 20 and 200.
“We are fortunate to have access to well-designed and functional meetings, conference and events spaces at The Leea and since opening, we have significantly enhanced this offering to support everything from board meetings and training sessions to large-scale conferences and gala events,” said Prendiville.
“Comprehensive upgrades include state-of-the-art audio systems, advanced multi-screen presentation capabilities, fully integrated digital conferencing technology, high-definition visual presentation options and flexible room configurations with seamless connectivity throughout.
“Breakout rooms have also been equipped with fully integrated conferencing and AV solutions, enabling simultaneous presentations, hybrid meetings, video conferencing, and collaborative workshops.
“These upgrades are designed to meet the evolving needs of corporate, government, association and event clients and mean event organisers can deliver professional, high-impact presentations and provide delegates with a seamless, connected meeting experience,” he said.
Prendiville said further upgrades to meeting spaces will be announced once plans are confirmed. Meanwhile, for the new poolside precinct, Prendiville said the group was “actively developing a business events offering around the new spaces”.
“The new poolside precinct is designed to be a flexible, social space that lends itself beautifully to everyday operations as well as exclusive business event use,” he said.
“Groups will be able to utilise The Leea Garden, Deck and Common for a large range of functions including networking events, and dinners with a dedicated event coordinator to ensure each vision comes to life with seamless and detailed execution.”
The property’s 168 accommodation rooms and apartments are set to undergo a refresh, focussed on soft furnishings, linen and amenities as part of the broader transformation, with the hotel to remain open throughout.
The new poolside area will open in August.
