Melbourne Park’s chief operating officer, Megan O’Reilly, has taken up the president role for the Venue Management Association (VMA) in Asia and the Pacific.
“Megan is an exceptional leader with deep operational expertise, strategic vision and a genuine passion for people and industry development,” said VMA CEO, Joel Edmondson.
“She brings a collaborative, future-focused approach that aligns strongly with where the association is heading and the opportunities ahead for our industry.
“Megan’s appointment reflects the continued evolution of the VMA and the importance of strong, diverse leadership across the venue industry.”
At Melbourne Park, O’Reilly oversees the daily operations of the precinct, as well as being involved in its future development. She also helms the delivery of Melbourne Park’s role in the Australian Open, one of the world’s four largest tennis tournaments, held at Melbourne Park each January.
Alongside this, O’Reilly has also been an active contributor to the Venue Management Association, as part of both the congress and mentoring committees. She joined the board of the association a year ago.
“I am proud to take on the role of president of the VMA and represent an industry and community that I care deeply about,” she said.
“I believe our industry is at a pivotal moment and that the VMA has an important role to play in shaping a connected, innovative and resilient future for venues across the Asia Pacific.”
Just the second female president in the association’s 34-year history, O’Reilly has taken over the presidency from Phil King AVM, Ticketek’s managing director, who leaves the association’s board after nine years, including three as president.
