The International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA) has opened submissions for its annual marketing accolade and announced the theme of the award for 2026.

This year’s theme is “Imagination and Impact: Where Creativity Meets Strategy”.

Submissions involve a written entry and a video. The handful of selected finalists are also required to make a 10-minute presentation at the ICCA Congress, which will be held in Panama, this November.

“Marketing today is about storytelling, strategy, data and delivering meaningful impact,” said ICCA CEO Dr. Senthil Gopinath.

“The Best Marketing Award celebrates those who dare to imagine differently and deliver results that strengthen our global community.”

Australia and New Zealand have a solid track record with the award.

BESydney was a finalist in 2025 for its “Change Starts Here” campaign, which sought to reposition Sydney for global associations as an innovative city and to highlight that business events in Sydney could drive social and economic impact.

In 2024, Business Events Australia was a finalist for its latest iteration of “There’s Nothing Like Australia for Business Events” campaign, supporting the recovery of business events visitation to Australia following the pandemic.

Tourism New Zealand won the award in 2023 for its humorous “If You Seek” campaign, encouraging international conferences to come to New Zealand.

Perth Convention Bureau – now Business Events Perth – also won the award in 2001 and 2004.

Submissions for the award close at 11:59pm on August 28, Central European Time – 10 hours behind Australian east coast time in winter.
