Two hotel openings snuck in there at the end of 2025 in Melbourne and Queenstown, while Christchurch got a new longer-stay proposition in November.

Hannah St Hotel in Melbourne and the boutique Coronet Ridge Resort in Queenstown, New Zealand both completed softer openings in December.

The $150-million Hannah St Hotel is located not far from Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre, offering 188 rooms and five F&B venues that are being helmed by local culinary group,The Mulberry Group, who will also cater events held at the hotel.

“We’re incredibly proud to open our doors and share what’s been taking shape behind the scenes for the past three years,” said Hannah St Hotel’s general manager, Peter Minatsis.

“Hannah St Hotel was created to feel connected to its neighbourhood. A place where guests can experience the real Melbourne, not just visit it. From the design to the dining to the small, thoughtful touches in every room, everything has been considered to make people feel welcomed… and we’re doing just that.”

Meanwhile in New Zealand, the 41-key Coronet Ridge Resort also opened in December.

The former Nugget Point Resort has undergone a multi-million-dollar redevelopment to emerge as a luxury property.

Rooms and suites begin on the large side and get larger – ranging from 37m2 up to 70m2. Each room offers either a patio or a balcony.

Alongside a restaurant and bar overlooking the alpine region, the resort has a custom conference space for up to 30 delegates, with other breakout spaces available.

An earlier opening that also flew under the radar was The Kilmore Collection in Christchurch, a group of 18 apartments designed for longer stays in the South Island city.

Managed by one of Christchurch’s luxury hotels, The George, The Kilmore Collection is located 12 minutes’ walk from Te Pae Christchurch Convention Centre, 10 minutes’ walk from Christchurch Town Hall and under 2km from One New Zealand Stadium, due to open in April, with business events a target market.

“The Kilmore Collection demonstrates our commitment to evolving alongside the needs of today’s travellers,” said Bruce Garrett, managing director of Brook Serene, which manages The George.

“Aparthotels are one of the fastest‑growing segments globally, and this addition allows us to complement The George with a flexible, future‑focused accommodation solution.

“Together, they strengthen our ability to welcome guests staying longer, experiencing more of Ōtautahi–Christchurch, and contributing to the vibrancy of the city’s visitor economy.”
