The 222-room Mercure Penrith is situated adjacent to the Penrith Panthers precinct, where Trilogy Hotels already oversees the Pullman Sydney Penrith, which opened in 2023.
The Panthers precinct also includes the Western Sydney Convention Centre, sitting alongside the Pullman, that offers purpose-built event space for up to 1,000 guests seated.
This new management deal is the first for Trilogy with Mercure Penrith’s owner, Serene Capital, which has 14 other hotel properties around Australia under a variety of brands including Quest, Adina and Vibe. It also owns The Constance in Brisbane, a Lancemore Group property.
“We are delighted to collaborate with Trilogy Hotels on our first franchise arrangement in Australia as we position the hotel in anticipation of the opening of the new Western Sydney International Airport (WSI),” said CEO and co-founder of Serene Capital, Glen Boultwood.
“We look forward to working together to ensure the Panthers Precinct remains Western Sydney’s go-to place for conferencing, sports and entertainment for the local community [and] domestic and international guests.”
Since launching in December 2023, Trilogy Hotels has made significant inroads into Western Sydney’s hotel market, picking up seven hotel contracts in Western Sydney and the Blue Mountains, including Novotel Sydney Parramatta, Mercure Sydney Parramatta and the Fairmont Resort Blue Mountains.
“We are very proud to partner with Serene Capital and Accor to manage the Mercure Penrith,” said Trilogy Hotels CEO, Scott Boyes, who previously held senior roles at Accor.
“Glen and his team have done a wonderful job in building a strong business that will be a wonderful addition to the precinct and lay the groundwork for a very exciting future ahead.”
Western Sydney’s visitor economy is increasingly coming into focus with the opening of the Western Sydney International Airport set for late next year.
