Marina Bay Sands won the overall Innovation Award for using technology to enhance service mobility at Sands Expo, the 120,000m2 convention centre that’s part of the Marina Bay Sands footprint in Singapore.
Marina Bay Sands combined technology with artificial intelligence to create several different innovations to make set-up and service of events at the venue more efficient. These included power assist wheels to increase how many chairs a single staff member can move at one time – 60 chairs – tug machines enabling staff to move large pieces of furniture more easily, AI-powered carts that autonomously transport dishes and glasses, and refreshment carts with power assist wheels that can be deployed around the venue to provide pop-up event refreshment.
Meanwhile at Queen Sirikit National Convention Centre (QSNCC) in Bangkok, Thailand, the centre’s food waste management initiative ‘Waste Not, Delight More’ won the Delegate’s Choice Innovation Award from AIPC.
QSNCC’s program takes a three pronged approach to reducing food waste, planning with the help of technology in the food ordering phase, employing a focus on utilising local ingredients efficiently and partnering with other organisations to donate surplus food and compost food waste.
The ‘Waste Not, Delight More’ initiative has seen QSNCC repurpose 80 per cent of its food waste. The program is also a finalist in the UFI Operations & Services Award 2025 from the global exhibitions industry association.
“These global sustainability awards not only elevate QSNCC’s reputation worldwide but also affirm our dedication and creativity in achieving zero food waste – while delivering sustainable, delightful F&B experiences,” said CEO of QSNCC, Surapol Utintu.
“These recognitions inspire us to continue advancing toward our ultimate goal of net zero.”
