A Hotel Indigo and a Holiday Inn have opened on Melbourne’s major pedestrian shopping street.

Between the two hotels, the openings add 452 rooms to Melbourne’s already very healthy hotel inventory. The Hotel Indigo Melbourne Little Collins is the smaller of the two properties, offering 179 rooms, while the Holiday Inn Melbourne Bourke Street Mall offers 273 rooms.

The hotels are reasonably well located for those attending events at Melbourne Convention and Exhibition Centre who also want to stay in the heart of the city centre – the 96 tram stopping along Bourke St runs down and stops outside the convention centre.

The hotels themselves offer some meeting space, with the Hotel Indigo featuring an intimate space for meetings or private dinners for 12 people, while the Holiday Inn has a 220m2 private terrace event space. The Holiday Inn also offers access to conference space at The Causeway, which can accommodate groups of up to 70.

The properties fall under the same general manager, Scott Hamilton.

“The opening of Hotel Indigo Melbourne Little Collins is a landmark moment for the revitalisation of Bourke Street Mall and surrounding laneways and an opportunity for us to showcase exactly what the Hotel Indigo brand brings to Melbourne: a design-forward, neighbourhood-first experience,” said Hamilton.

Meanwhile for the Holiday Inn, Hamilton wants to capture visitors driven by Melbourne’s major events calendar.

“We hope to welcome guests for all Melbourne’s main events, from Grand Prix to Grand Final and beyond.”
