Travis Henry was one of 14 candidates chosen for the association’s leadership development initiative, which is open to AIPC’s convention centre members around the world.
The Future Shapers Program includes a series of masterclasses and an industry challenge through which teams work together on a solution to a convention centre pain point. This collaboration culminates in a competitive pitch with a winner selected.
Henry’s team, Synergy, which included members from convention centres in Cape Town, Kuala Lumpur and Belfast, presented, a “cross-functional” training platform for convention centre teams. Their winning solution proposed leveraging live data, feedback and booking trends to create learning modules which resonate for individual staff and their goals as well as serving the performance aspirations of the venue.
AIPC said the Synergy solution “stood out for its depth, practicality and long-term impact”.
“Travis’ outstanding achievement as part of the 2025 winning team Synergy reflects his business acumen, technical skill and collaboration,” said ICC Sydney’s CEO, Adam Mather-Brown.
“ICC Sydney has been successfully represented in the AIPC Future Shapers program by our exceptional venue ambassadors over the years.
“We consistently invest in our team by providing opportunities to upskill, spark creativity and to support our clients, delegates and stakeholders.
“We are incredibly proud that our culture of innovation allows our team to build their careers, global networks and ultimately deliver impactful events for our clients here in Sydney.”
Henry’s contribution to the winning solution in the 2025 industry challenge follows his colleague Gabriella Alberici’s leadership of the winning team in the 2024 Future Shapers challenge.
Previous ideas put forward as part of the challenge have been picked up for potential and actual development into real world applications for convention centres.
