Pullman hotel set for Hamilton in New Zealand
The 191-room hotel is set for the tallest building in Hamilton on New Zealand’s North Island.

The hotel is part of a $100 million transformation of an existing building in Hamilton’s Centre Place shopping centre. Pullman Hamilton is expected to open in 2026.

The already-underway development includes three levels of retail and office space, two levels of underground parking and 13 floors devoted to the Pullman.

Although it appears the hotel won’t have meeting space of its own, the Pullman will be just blocks from SkyCity Hamilton, which has events space for more than 500 attendees, and 1.6km from Claudelands Conference and Exhibition Centre, which has capacity for more than 1,000.

“We are thrilled to be able to bring what we know will be a game-changing opportunity to Hamilton City and the surrounding region, with this internationally premium hotel offering,” said Pienaar Piso, one of the two local businessmen behind the development.

Hamilton is New Zealand’s fourth largest city and one of its fastest growing. The Pullman will bring a new class of international hotel to the city centre.

“This hotel will elevate the style and sophistication of the popular North Island destination of Hamilton,” said Accor Pacific’s COO, Adrian Williams.

“The international brand recognition of Pullman will aid in attracting tourists and conferences to the city, enhancing its profile on the global stage.

“Pullman Hamilton will cater to a wide range of travellers, including families, couples and business leaders looking for a world-class stay in one of the country’s most attractive tourist destinations.

“The hotel will not only offer leisure and business guests a sophisticated accommodation experience, but the local economy will also benefit through employment, supplier partnerships and added economic development that will come with increased visitors to the region,” he said.

The addition of Pullman to Hamilton is also addressing a known need for new accommodation in the city, accord to Hamilton’s mayor, Paula Southgate.

“Hamilton is a visitor destination and we have known for some time that we need 595 additional hotel rooms and serviced apartments by 2033, to meet visitor demand,” she said.

The Pullman will deliver very close to a third of that.

“This hotel will create more than 100 jobs and contribute to attracting more visitors and events to our beautiful city and region, boosting our local economy,” Southgate added.

The hotel will also offer a rooftop bar and a day spa.
