Minor Hotels expands Australian footprint
Minor Hotels has announced a new Oaks property in Melbourne thanks to a growing franchise model.

Oaks Melbourne on William Suites is a 220-room apartment hotel at the north end of Melbourne’s CBD grid layout, just near Flagstaff Station.

The property is the third to open under a franchise model with Minor Hotels, following the debuts of Oaks Toowoomba and Oaks Townsville Metropole.

“Franchising is an integral part of our company’s growth strategy,” said Minor Hotels director of franchising, Nathan Kelly.

“It allows us to partner with local operators who understand their markets deeply, while providing them with the resources needed to thrive.

“This collaborative approach has been key to our success and will continue to drive our presence in new and existing key markets.”

A major new build for the Sunshine Coast, Avani Mooloolaba Beach Hotel will also open under a franchised model with Minor Hotels late next year.

The $250 million property from Minor Hotels will be a 4.5 star hotel with 180 rooms and 180-degree water views, offering event space, a rooftop bar, a pool and a restaurant.

With the Sunshine Coast hungry for new hotels, this will be a significant development for the destination just north of Brisbane.
