Australian Event Symposium to return as Australian Event Awards calls for entries
A gathering for the entire Australian events industry is set for October as the Australian Event Awards brings back the Australian Event Symposium.

Entries are now open for the Event Awards, with 33 categories taking submissions.

Categories include best event categories from sporting, tourism, cultural and community events, to the best exhibition and large and small conference in the country. Best Brand Event and Best Corporate Event are also in the mix.

In addition, there are several industry achievement categories for suppliers, from venues to caterers, and for achievements in technical production, marketing, design, styling and security.

There are also four event management company awards open for entries.

“The Australian [Event] Awards help to make the invisible visible,” said Event Awards and Symposium managing director, Ian Steigrad.

“The awards shine a light on exceptional event outcomes but also on the challenges and constraints that make those outcomes all the more incredible.

“As an industry that is everywhere but often nowhere to be seen when things go well, the Australian Event Awards allows us to articulate and celebrate what makes us a valued, talented and important profession.

“With…over 30 independent industry experts on the judging panel providing feedback to entrants, the awards also help individual events and companies benchmark and reflect on their work,” he said.

Organisers of the awards have also confirmed the return of the Australian Event Symposium in 2024, a two-day conference held in conjunction with the Australian Event Awards. The symposium has not run since 2019, when both the awards and symposium were staged at Optus Stadium in Perth.

The symposium will see industry leaders and experts share insights on topics including artificial intelligence, risk, sustainability, community engagement, event design and event marketing.

The Australian Event Awards and Symposium will be held from October 21-23, 2024.
