South Australia also currently has applications open for its Regional Event Fund.
There’s $1.5 million in funding available in NSW across three streams, with each stream offering a different level of maximum funding.
Grants of up to $20,000 are available via the incubator event stream, for events in their first or second years of operation. The flagship event stream offers up to $20,000 of funding for events which have been running for more than two years. In the event development stream, established events can receive up to $50,000 in funding.
The funding is for public events which aim to drive visitation to regional areas of NSW.
“Destination NSW has ambitious goals for the state’s regional visitor economy, and supporting established and new events is key to this,” said Steve Cox, CEO of Destination NSW, which administers the grant program.
“Through programs like the Regional Event Fund we are giving businesses the confidence to invest, innovate and grow their visitor offering to showcase the incredible variety of event experiences that sets NSW apart from other states.”
Applications for NSW’s Regional Event Fund close on April 9, 2024. Events must be held next financial year. Business events are ineligible. There is a separate fund for regional business events in NSW, however it is not currently taking applications.
In South Australia, funding is available for regional events in two streams – one for new and emerging events and the other for established events.
New events can receive up to $20,000 in funding, while established events can receive up to $50,000.
As in NSW, the fund aims to drive visitation to the state’s regions and business events are not eligible to apply.
“Regional events provide a great opportunity for locals and visitors alike to explore South Australia,” said South Australia’s tourism minister, Zoe Bettison.
“Not only are they an important driver of visitation, but they help celebrate the vibrancy and creativity of our state and contribute to the social fabric of regional communities.”
Applications for South Australia’s Regional Event Fund close on May 6, 2024. Events must be held between September 1, 2024 and August 31, 2025.
