W Sydney locks in opening date
After a long wait, the largest W hotel in the world has confirmed an October opening date in Sydney.

Originally slated to open in 2020, the hotel on Darling Harbour will debut on October 12, 2023, offering 585 rooms and 1,308m2 of event space.

The largest event space, the Great Room, will look out over the water and have capacity to seat 805 delegates in theatre of 390 for a banquet. The hotel is also walking distance from ICC Sydney.

The hotel has also announced two of its signature food and beverage spaces, with BTWN to be a “raw urban space” of a restaurant, headed up by an ex-Aria chef and offering all-day dining, and 29/30 to be a two level bar on the corresponding floors of the hotel, looking out over the hotel’s infinity pool onto Darling Harbour.

“W Hotels is a brand that was born in New York, but destined for Sydney,” said W Sydney’s general manager, Craig Seaward.

“The pulse of the city is so aligned with the W spirit – the sense of originality and curiosity, the unique take on luxury, the bold attitude. Eclectic and unexpected, this new hotel will be a beacon for the harbour, a hub of constantly evolving experiences and exciting spaces that unfold from morning till late and are deeply connected to the life of the city.

“We can’t wait to share W Sydney with our guests when we open our doors on 12 October.”
