Larger events in Canberra will be allowed to go ahead from Friday without an exemption, with the easing of restrictions brought forward as the national capital tracks above 95 percent full vaccination coverage in those aged 12 and over.

Organised events with up to 2,000 attendees will need to be ticketed and pre-registered, with a COVID safety plan submitted for events of between 1,000 and 2,000 attendees. Only events over 2,000 will be required to apply for an exemption to go ahead.

From Friday, indoor event and entertainment venues can operate at 100 percent of fixed seating capacity in theatre style with non-seated events able to take place at a density limit of one person per two square metres.

Hospitality venues will be able to operate at one person per two square metres indoors and no density limit outdoors.

Masks will only be required indoors in high risk settings including public transport, hospitals, aged care and schools and must be worn by front of house hospitality staff.
