BESydney launches new portal for planners
The portal will bring together various tools, resources and funding to make it easier to host a business event in Sydney.

The new portal from Sydney’s convention bureau, Business Events Sydney (BESydney) was developed in consultation with agents and planners of small events, to address pain points in the event planning process.

It is specifically designed to help organisers without large teams to plan an event in Sydney.

The portal includes access to information, tools and resources – like checklists – to assist organisers with the everything from the bidding process to planning and marketing an event in Sydney. The portal also offers access to funding opportunities, images and video of Sydney and an ability to make a shortlist of event suppliers in Sydney.

“We are continuing our digital transformation journey to provide efficiencies and tailoring our service to specific customer needs with our new event planning portal,” said BESydney CEO, Lyn Lewis Smith.

The portal provides insights on event considerations including delivering a socially impactful event or checklists for inclusivity and accessibility, as well as ideas for venues, entertainment, and speakers in Sydney.

“We want to support conference, meeting and event owners pitch, win, plan and promote business events in Sydney.”

In keeping with the target audience, the new portal provides access to the Sydney Meetings Fund, which was opened to the agents and planners in India and Southeast Asia in February, offering financial support for event groups as small as 100 delegates.

The fund, for events of at least three nights, offers a short term boost to Sydney’s events industry, by supporting events taking place this calendar year. Applications are open until October 31, 2024, reflecting the post-pandemic shorter lead times for the industry.
