A new partnership between the American Express Queenstown Winter festival and Qantas is set to encourage more Australians to attend the fortieth anniversary of the event.

“The winter festival has been attracting Australians over the years and this partnership with Qantas will further enhance our ability to raise the profile of the event in the Australian market,” festival manager, Lisa Buckingham said.

Qantas’ support of this year’s milestone event, which runs from June 20 to 29, coincides with the airline’s recent announcement of additional flights from Australia to Queenstown during the peak ski season.

During the winter period Qantas will add more than 650 seats each week with additional services running from April 7 to October 24 2014.

The amended schedule for Sydney-Queenstown services as follows:

7 April – 2 May:             5 per week (Monday, Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday)

3 May– 4 June:              3 per week (Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday)

6 June – 02 July:           4 per week (Wednesday, Friday, Saturday, Sunday)

4 July – 24 October:      Daily

Qantas also operates a weekly Brisbane-Queenstown service on Saturdays during the peak ski season from June 28 to September 27.
