Moreton Hire, a company which traditionally provided equipment hire for events and exhibitions, has been deployed to build temporary vaccination super hubs on behalf of Western Health in Victoria.

Since January, the company has been engaged to build a temporary vaccination clinic in a multi-deck carpark at Sunshine Hospital and at the Melbourne Airport; a scope that includes temporary walls for cubicles, assessment spaces, hospital grade lino, lighting, furniture, plumbing and HVAC.

Managing director of Moreton Hire, Peter Morahan, said COVID’s impact has been drastic for the company and industry at large.

“As a company, we made a commitment last year to not sit idle. It has been full steam ahead working tirelessly to uncover new revenue streams,” he said.

“It has meant some very difficult decisions; we have had to be nimble and adapt to first and foremost preserve jobs. We’re doing what we must to get our business in the best position for our customers in the future.”

Being involved in the execution of vaccination super hubs has allowed the company to redeploy resources typically used to build iconic Australian events.

“We’re using items such as walling and marquees, originally purchased for the Gold Coast Commonwealth Games 2018, to provide critical infrastructure for testing and vaccination sites” Mr Morahan continued.

“Our teams are trained in rapid execution of temporary set-ups, resulting in health bodies being able to tap into a wealth of experience to get results – fast!”
