Leonda By The Yarra today confirmed it has acquired MasterChef judge Gary Mehigan’s Fenix Melbourne riverfront venue.

Directors of Leonda By The Yarra, Carly and Eric Cohen, said they intend to continue operating the venue under the Fenix Events name as an exclusive space. To achieve that they will turn the ground floor restaurant into two separate event rooms.

“There are great synergies between Leonda and Fenix, and as a family owned business, we are looking forward to extending our family and instilling the Fenix team with our strong values,” the pair said.

“The motivated teams at both Leonda and Fenix will continue to deliver exceptional experiences to our guests.”

Gary Mehigan said he wished the new owners the very best of luck.

“They will have our full support and we will be following the developments with great interest. We are off to focus on The Maribyrnong Boathouse and other big’ ventures… stay tuned!”

The two venues are a perfect fit, being both well-established businesses with riverfront locations that have a great reputation for excellence. Leonda underwent a major transformation in 2006 and showcases two event spaces that are highly sought after for a variety of events including weddings, corporate and social functions. Fenix has remained a strong competitor in both the corporate and wedding markets and is a landmark venue for residents in Richmond. Both are renowned for their food, exceptional service and beautiful water views.
