As NSW works through its fifth day of a 14-day lockdown and amid all Australian states and territories and New Zealand’s borders being closed to Greater Sydney, the much anticipated business events trade exhibition Get Local at ICC Sydney has been postponed from July 29-30 to August 24-25.

Co-owners of Get Local Donna Kessler and Gary Bender believe the new August dates are in the best health and safety interests of all involved, and will give attendees from around the country and New Zealand the ability and confidence to attend.

“We have always maintained that Get Local would be an in-person event and by moving it to August we are confident that will happen.

“Moving the expo allows both exhibitors and visitors time to do what they have to do in their own businesses right now. Over the past few days many companies have made the decision to reschedule their own events and that takes work for event planners and venue operators – our attendees – to manage,” said Kessler.

“Unfortunately, the global pandemic has brought with it a new reality for all of us where we have to be agile in every single area of our business. Moving Get Local to August is simply a demonstration of this,” added Bender.

“Our overriding desire is for the entire business event sector to come together safely and to help kick-start this great industry of ours. We hope all our industry colleagues stay safe and we look forward to seeing you in August,” he said.

The event has already expanded its floor space and secured a number of major partnerships, including with Destination NSW, the Association of Australian Convention Bureaux and Business Events Sydney.
