The upcoming Singapore MICE Forum in July promises invaluable networking opportunities, fresh insights on issues and trends, and high-level attendees, thanks to a new partnership between SACEOS and Questex.

Over the last six years, the MICE market in Asia has grown by 133 percent; this is in comparison to the global market rate of 19.9 percent. Being the only Asian city in the Top Ten Convention Cities worldwide for year 2013, Singapore stands strong in marking its 11th consecutive year leading the MICE industry in the Asia Pacific region.
However, industry predictions indicate growing competition from regional countries such as China, Thailand and Korea. For Singapore to continue to remain a popular destination and to maintain its competitive edge, there is a growing need to address and find solutions for trends, pressing issues, as well as challenges that the MICE industry faces.

The Singapore MICE Forum (SMF) remains dedicated to shaping the future by aiming to continue to be a strong platform for this very purpose. Taking place from July 14-18 this year at Marina Bay Sands, it will allow for key issues to be discussed and industry ideas exchanged. Workshops will also be conducted to address the skills and knowledge gaps during the three days leading up to the SMF.
“Understanding the industry and its challenges inside out is vital for companies. The SMF plays a fundamental role in enhancing this understanding, through market analysis and interpreting the trials of the industry both in the present and future,” said Janet Tan-Collis, president of SACEOS.

The five-day event aims to maximise innovation and networking within the industry. The professional development programmes will target talent development, new advances in technology, effective measurements to measure return on investment, as well as merger and acquisition – providing fresh insights and solutions that will eventually contribute to a brighter outlook for the local MICE industry. It will also include a gala dinner for attendees and MICE leaders from around the region, a flagship tradition of the SMF.

SACEOS has formed a partnership with global business information company Questex to introduce the first Asia Meeting & Incentive Travel Exchange (AMITE) programme this year. Featuring highly-qualified buyers from North America and Europe, it aims to guarantee SMF 2014 participants with unfettered access to impressive purchasing power, a maximised sponsorship value, and invaluable networking opportunities.
Commenting on the main objective of SMF 2014, Tan-Collis added: “With high-level attendees from a global network, we will draft a long-term vision of success in the MICE industry along with concrete solutions and insights on effective and efficient engagement. This is the ultimate aim of SMF 2014.” m
