Sydney Showground first announced its partnership with Clima, which offers net zero carbon solutions to businesses, last June.
Under the extended partnership, Sydney Showground will offer a new carbon calculator to event clients at no charge.
The calculator will be made available on the Sydney Showground website and will be able to give clients a ballpark figure for carbon emissions for their event at the venue in less than 10 minutes.
“As a venue, we are not just focused on events. We’re focused on hosting them responsibly,” said Sydney Showground’s general manager, Darryl Jeffrey.
“So, extending our Climate Conscious Events (CCE) program was the natural next step in our mission to support measurable, meaningful climate action in the event space.
“Partnering with Clima has empowered our clients to begin their sustainability journey with confidence and ease; and what better way to celebrate this progress than by launching a new, free CCE calculator to make sustainability even more accessible.”
In the first year of the venue’s partnership with Clima, more than 2,000 tonnes of carbon emissions from events were measured and Sydney Showground rolled out another nine initiatives to lower carbon emissions of events held at the venue, including deploying energy efficient lighting.
With the extension of the partnership, event clients at Sydney Showground will now be able to obtain an audit-ready climate report, which provides detailed climate impacts of an event.
With Clima already offering event clients at Sydney Showground options to offset carbon emissions generated by their events, clients will now also be able to access a variety of initiatives through the Carbon Conscious Events program to make a positive contribution to the environment, including through biodiversity conservation, plastic pollution reduction and circular economy projects.
