The 80-room Novotel St Kilda on Fitzroy Street has been transformed from the former Saint Kilda Beach Hotel.

The hotel is part of a $196 million redevelopment taking place on Fitzroy Street in the inner beachside suburb as part of a combined effort between Fortis, Ondas, Port Phillip City Council and the hotel’s owner, ERDI.

“This is a significant moment for ERDI and the beginning of an exciting new chapter for this landmark St Kilda property,” said ERDI’s CEO and executive director, Ricky Jeffs.

“This transformation represents a significant investment in both the hotel and the future of this iconic location, and it builds on the successful partnership we have developed across our broader hotel portfolio with Accor.

“Our vision has been to completely reimagine the hotel and create an experience that feels connected to the character, energy and lifestyle of St Kilda, from the redesign of the guestrooms and public spaces through to the new restaurant and expanded events offering.”

The hotel features several spaces for meetings and events, including a small ballroom for up to 120, a boardroom with a private courtyard that can host 26 people and a rooftop venue for up to 150 pax.

The hotel also features a restaurant, Urban Kitchen and Bar, that combines Italian and modern Australian cuisines and can host events of up to 150 attendees. The hotel is also open to buyouts by event groups.

“We are absolutely thrilled to open the doors to Novotel St Kilda and see this iconic Melbourne address begin such an exciting new chapter,” said Accor Pacific’s COO, Adrian Williams.

“St Kilda is one of Australia’s most distinctive neighbourhoods and this hotel captures that spirit brilliantly.”

Prior to opening under the Novotel brand, Christos Pavlidis was appointed as general manager of the hotel, moving over from Ovolo Hotels, and bringing significant hotel and hospitality experience with him.

“Reopening a property in a destination as iconic as St Kilda is a fantastic opportunity,” said Pavlidis.

“With the strength of the Accor brand and the vision and support of ERDI behind us, we have a great opportunity to create something really special.”
