Belmo Group acquires Townsville hotel
Belmo Group has bought Aquarius on the Beach in Townsville, taking over the property on July 1.
The 13-storey, 156-key hotel sits on the waterfront in Townsville, with all rooms having ocean views, and offers a boardroom alongside its guest room inventory.
The property is located under 3km from Townsville Entertainment and Convention Centre, offering potential accommodation for event delegates.
“Townsville is a city on the move, and Aquarius holds a position on its waterfront that can’t be replicated,” said Belmo Group CEO, David Assef.
“But what really sets it apart is the business behind it: strong client relationships built over many years.
“Our job is to protect those relationships, and the experience guests return for, while lifting the hotel’s commercial performance.”
Belmo is particularly active in the holiday apartment market in Noosa on the Sunshine Coast but was also recently announced as the hotel operator for the forthcoming luxury Laval Hunter Valley Resort.

Journey Beyond completes Crocodile Hotel purchase
Following the announcement of the pending purchase in May, Journey Beyond has confirmed completion of the acquisition of the Crocodile Hotel in Kakadu National Park in the Northern Territory.
The crocodile-shaped hotel has 110 rooms and several event spaces for up to 250 in theatre.
Following the finalisation of its acquisition, Journey Beyond has again confirmed that “significant investment” is planned for the hotel. The property continues to be managed by its existing team.
