Over 60 event organisers, decision-makers and media – including micenet – are gathered on the Gold Coast until Thursday to get a firsthand experience of the destination’s evolving business events offering.
Famil delegates are travelling from around Australia and New Zealand as well as international markets further afield including India, Singapore and Malaysia.
As part of the program, there will be a day of business discussions between buyers and sellers tomorrow, with an estimated $50 million of events there for the taking by Gold Coast venues, hotels and other suppliers.
“TIGC26 gives organisers the opportunity to experience the Gold Coast as their delegates would, through memorable moments, genuine connections and activities that extend well beyond the meeting room,” said Experience Gold Coast’s head of destination and engagement, Rachel Hancock.
“This is Gold Coast generates millions of dollars in national and international business event leads, demonstrating the strength of the destination’s offering and the value of bringing key decision-makers into the city.”
In 2026, This is Gold Coast will include experiences and networking events at new restaurant, Valentina at Peppers Soul Surfers Paradise, as well as at The Star Gold Coast, JW Marriott Gold Coast Resort and Spa, Currumbin Wildlife Sanctuary and Room81 at Sofitel Gold Coast Broadbeach. The Business Exchange will take place at Sea World Conference Centre.
“We are taking site inspections beyond what attendees can simply see and inviting them to discover the Gold Coast through sound, taste, connection and exploration,” said Experience Gold Coast’s acting director of business events, Andrea Molnar.
“From tasting fresh local flavours and calming moments on the Gold Coast waterways to interactive entertainment and the stories behind locally crafted beer, every element has been curated to immerse, surprise and inspire.
“Attendees will connect with local venues, hotels, attractions, experiences and event suppliers while gaining firsthand insight into the city’s capability to deliver seamless conferences, incentive programs and corporate events.”
Some famil attendees will head home on Wednesday, with some staying on for a fourth day to experience more of the Gold Coast’s business events product, before departing on Thursday.
