Managing director of Sydney-headquartered EVT Incentive Marketing, Mercedes Ibbett, has won the Incentive Industry Influencer Award from the US-based Incentive Marketing Association (IMA).

According to the award’s descriptor, it recognises “an individual who displays an exceptional level of influence on the professional development and advancement of the incentive industry”.

Ibbett has led EVT since 2009 and since then the company’s team has grown by 60 per cent and developed their own incentive sector technology, while also retaining each of their clients for an average of 10 years.

Ibbett also sits on the board for the Australia and New Zealand chapter of the Society for Incentive Travel Excellence (SITE).

She was the only Australian to receive an award across the 23 categories in the IMA Summit Awards.

“I feel very honoured to be recognised for my contribution to our industry,” Ibbett told micenet.

“I have worked in the incentive industry for over 20 years, half my life, and it’s work I am passionate about and feel very privileged to be part of. I truly believe we are in the best industry there is – our job is to reward people for great work.

“While I’m absolutely thrilled by the recognition, I think the bigger story is about Australia,” she said.

“We’re a relatively small market, yet we continue to have a strong influence on the global incentive and business events industry through our creativity, innovation and ability to deliver meaningful experiences.”
