ABEA inks another industry partnership
The Australian Business Events Association (ABEA) has entered into a partnership with another international industry association – its second this year.

ABEA is partnering with the International Association of Professional Conference Organisers (IAPCO) to share knowledge, grow the visibility of business events and work together on industry opportunities.

Benefits of the partnership include education and insight opportunities for members of both organisations, with industry leader panel sessions, joint education sessions and discounts for other professional development opportunities all part of the collaboration.

The two associations will also work together on research issues, including a white paper, and host meetups at international business events trade shows, including IMEX, IBTM, the Asia Pacific Incentives and Meetings Event (AIME) and FIEXPO in South America.

“Our collective efforts will provide our members with exceptional value, critical industry knowledge and the ability to connect on a global scale,” said ABEA CEO, Melissa Brown.

“There is so much knowledge to be shared.

“The more efficiently we can share experience and knowledge across the globe, the easier it will be for our members to keep up to date with the latest developments.”

The partnership has been formalised through the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the two bodies, which will last three years.

“As we navigate an ever-evolving industry landscape, fostering collaboration between organisations who stand for the same values is crucial for the ongoing success and growth of the global meetings and events industry,” said IAPCO president, Sissi Lignou.

“My thanks to our past president, Sarah Markey-Hamm and Melissa Brown for facilitating this important strategic partnership.”

Markey-Hamm is an Australian PCO, based in Melbourne.

Earlier this year, ABEA formed a partnership with International Association of Convention Centres (AIPC). The Australian association also has a partnership in place with International Congress and Convention Association (ICCA), signed at AIME last year.
