Perth to host major APAC education conference
Western Australia’s capital will host the Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) Conference and Exhibition in March 2024, for over 2,000 anticipated delegates.

A collaborative bid to secure the event by Business Events Perth, StudyPerth and the Western Australian Government will see the event return to Australia for the first time in eight years. Melbourne hosted the conference in 2016, while the 2024 event will be the first time WA has hosted.
All five of WA’s university’s contributed to the successful bid.

International education, a traditionally strong export sector across Australia, has been identified by the WA Government as one of its priority industry’s with the state allocating $75.4 million over four years to support the sector.

“APAIE 2024 will be an opportunity to showcase our higher education sector and share our expertise and experiences with the rest of the Asia-Pacific region,” said David Templeman, WA’s international education minister.

While also pointing out the benefits of the conference for the tourism and hospitality industries, WA’s minister for state development, jobs and trade and tourism Roger Cook also flagged the reputational prospects hosting the gathering will yield.

“Hosting business events such as APAIE 2024 help us to better compete on the global stage and showcase WA’s capabilities across a range of sectors, including higher education and research.”

The event will bring together a variety of stakeholders to discuss trends and developments in the international education sector.
