There’s been a changing of the guard at the helm of Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour.

Peta Ruiter is the new general manager for the 172-room hotel, which also has four meeting spaces for up to 130 seated.

Prior to joining the Accor property, Ruiter spent more than 20 years with Hilton, working primarily in commercial director roles across Asia, including in Vietnam, Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan and South Korea, before taking on a dual-property general manager role.

“I’m delighted to join Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour and return to luxury hospitality in such a wonderful waterfront location,” said Ruiter.

“Having spent much of my career working internationally, I’m excited to bring that experience to Auckland.

“For me, luxury hospitality has always been about people, genuine connections and the thoughtful details that make an experience memorable.

“I’m looking forward to working alongside the team, embracing Sofitel’s French art de vivre and the warmth of New Zealand hospitality, and building on what makes this hotel special.”

Ruiter joined Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour last week.

“Peta has a strong commercial perspective alongside a genuine understanding of luxury hospitality, and I am looking forward to the fresh ideas and energy she will bring to further enrich Sofitel Auckland Viaduct Harbour and its team,” said Sofitel’s vice president of operations for the Pacific, David Fraser.

Ruiter replaces Reto Borer, who is staying within Accor for his next role, moving to Australia to head up the team at Pullman Quay Grand Sydney Harbour.
