Undertaken by its new owners, Mandala Hotels and Resorts, the renovation included upgrades to guest rooms, event spaces, dining venues and the 20 hectares of land that the belongs to the hotel.
The completion of the transformation from Mercure to Peppers Clear Mountain makes the property Accor’s first premium hotel in Moreton Bay and the first five-star accommodation option for the region.
Moreton Bay’s mayor, Peter Flannery, has welcomed the elevation of the hotel.
“This premium venue is a welcome development for our tourism and major events industry which is experiencing high demand from leisure and corporate guests,” said Flannery.
“The investment in this stunning hotel also demonstrates the confidence that investors have in the economic strength and opportunities of City of Moreton Bay.
“The project strengthens Mandala’s growing Australian portfolio and reinforces the group’s commitment to creating distinctive, high-performing destinations.”
Peppers Clear Mountain offers 51 rooms and event space able to host groups of up to 150 delegates, a restaurant with two private dining spaces, a pool and a gym.
Accor’s chief operating officer for the Pacific, Adrian Williams, and Mandala Hotels and Resorts COO Gemma McCourt both commented on the significance of the property’s upgrade.
“The transformation of Peppers Clear Mountain marks an exciting milestone for Mandala Hotels and Resorts, Accor, and the entire Moreton Bay community,” said Williams.
“By elevating this iconic property into the region’s only five-star hotel, we aren’t just opening doors to a new hotel – we’re setting a premium new benchmark for Queensland hospitality.
“As we look toward 2032 and the arrival of the world’s greatest sporting event, we are entering a golden era of growth.
“Tourism demand is surging, flight capacity is rising, and the energy in the market is palpable.
“It truly is blue skies for Queensland and blue skies for Brisbane.
“Peppers Clear Mountain is perfectly positioned to ride this wave of momentum, offering travellers a world-class experience in one of Australia’s most picturesque regions.”
McCourt said the elevation of the former Mercure “marks a confident and deliberate investment by Mandala Hotels & Resorts into one of Queensland’s most naturally compelling regions”.
“The transformation centres on reconnection, with oneself, with others and with the surrounding landscape, delivering a retreat that feels both restorative and deeply grounded in place,” she said.
“From wellness and nature-led moments to shared experiences designed for meaningful time together, Peppers Clear Mountain embodies Mandala’s commitment to creating destinations that enrich their regions and respond to the growing demand for purposeful, experience-driven travel.”
