The Calile in Brisbane has come in at 83, while Huka Lodge in New Zealand from the Beckons brand has just pipped the Australian hotel, ranking 82nd.
“Being named among the world’s best hotels for a fourth consecutive year means a great deal to all of us and is a testament to the commitment of our staff and loyal guests”, said The Calile’s general manager, Chris Kemlo.
“It reflects the dedication and quiet consistency of our team, and our care for every guest, every day, that continues to define The Calile experience.
“We’re grateful for this recognition and humbled to again represent Queensland hospitality on the global stage.”
Alongside its 175 rooms, The Calile offers event space for up to 300 attendees.

The Calile has slipped down the global list in 2026, after being ranked inside the top 50 for the last three years – 12th in 2023, 24th in 2024 and 34th last year.
Meanwhile the super boutique 22-key Huka Lodge has climbed the list slightly, rising from 88th in 2025.
“For more than a century, Huka Lodge has offered guests a remarkable connection to the natural beauty of Taupō, delivered with the warmth, generosity and personal hospitality for which it is known,” said Beckons CEO, Michael Crawford.
“This recognition is a wonderful reflection of the passion and commitment of the Huka Lodge team.”
The hotel underwent a recent major renovation, reopening in March 2025. It has several spaces that can host boutique events.
This is the second year that 50 Best has released a 51-100 ranking for hotels around the globe. The top 50 hotels will be announced in mid-September.
“The 51–100 list recognises 50 more exceptional hotels that represent the very best of global hospitality,” said director of community for the World’s 50 Best Hotels, Faye Huggett.
“This extended list broadens the spotlight to a remarkable community of properties and the passionate people who bring them to life – each one defining what great hospitality means today.
“Every hotel here has earned its place through our expert Academy’s votes, and we hope their achievements will go on to inspire future travels.”
The hotels list is selected by an academy of over 800 travel experts, including hoteliers, luxury travellers and hoteliers. Hotels cannot nominate themselves to be considered for the list.
