Refurbishment wraps up at Novotel Cairns Oasis Resort
The 314-room Novotel Cairns Oasis Resort has completed the last stage of a multi-million-dollar refurbishment.
The final phase of the refurbishment has yielded updated guestrooms, including new beds and refurbished bathrooms.
The work on the accommodation rooms follows refurbishment of the resort’s public spaces and dining venues in the last few years.
“The completion of these newly refurbished guest rooms marks an exciting milestone for Novotel Cairns Oasis Resort,” said the property’s general manager, Shelly Cuthbertson.
“Coming hot on the heels of our national Gold win at the Australian Tourism Awards, this investment reflects our ongoing commitment to elevating the guest experience while preserving the relaxed tropical atmosphere our resort is known for.
“From refreshed bathrooms and brand-new beds to our award-winning facilities, every element has been thoughtfully designed to help guests relax, reconnect and make lasting holiday memories.”
The resort has several meeting rooms, the largest of which can host up to 200 delegates in theatre. The property is also just 1.5km from Cairns Convention Centre.
Construction begins on new Rydges property on New Zealand’s North Island
Work has started on a new-build 158-room Rydges hotel in Tauranga on the Bay of Plenty in New Zealand.
Once complete in late 2028, the hotel will also offer four meeting rooms, with a maximum capacity of 322 in theatre in a single space, alongside a restaurant and bar.
“The commencement of construction is an exciting step forward for this project and for Tauranga,” said EVT Hotels and Resorts’ director of development, Peter Hill.
“We’re looking forward to bringing the Rydges brand to the city and creating a hotel that delivers strong commercial outcomes while reflecting the character, energy and spirit of the local community.

Tauranga is located on the east coast of New Zealand’s North Island between Rotorua and Auckland.
Manly hotel moves to new brand
The former Manly Pacific hotel on Sydney’s Northern Beaches has officially become Elysium Manly.
The 213-room beachfront property has followed its sister hotel, Elysium Noosa – formerly Sofitel Noosa Pacific – into the Elysium brand, with both hotels being owned by the Laundy and Karedis families.
With the hotel having spent $40 million on renovations in recent years, the move to the new brand has been quick, following an initial announcement last month.
The property’s general manager Dylan Cole, has remained at the helm, however the hotel has moved out from under the Accor umbrella.
“Elysium is about looking at every part of the guest experience and asking what more we can give, from the way we welcome people and anticipate what they might need, to the quality of the amenities in their room and the details they encounter throughout their stay,” said Cole.
“We have an extraordinary location in Manly and the ambition is to create a hotel experience that genuinely lives up to it.
