Rydges South Bank welcomes new general manager in Brisbane
Chantel Messaoudi is the new GM for the 304-room hotel next-door to the convention centre.
It’s a return to both Australia and Rydges for Messaoudi, who spent more than seven years with the brand as a national account manager in the 1990s.
Messaoudi rejoins Rydges from Conrad Bahrain Financial Harbour where she was also general manager. She brings more than 30 years of experience to her new role, having worked extensively in the Middle East as well as in London and China.
“Chantel brings a strong track record of leadership, commercial acumen and guest-focused excellence, making her exceptionally well placed to lead the hotel into its next phase of growth and success,” said EVT group general manager of hotels and resorts, Callum Kennedy.
She comes into the role with a focus on boosting performance.
“Rydges South Bank carries 30 years of significant trading history in this city,” said Messaoudi.
“The location is unmatched, the investment pipeline ahead of 2032 is real, and there is a clear opportunity to elevate the property to a higher level across revenue, guest experience and team performance. That work starts now.”
Phil King locks in move to New Zealand
Current managing director of Ticketek Australia Phil King will be the next CEO of Dunedin Venues on New Zealand’s South Island.
The venue group manages Dunedin Town Hall and Forsyth Barr Stadium, with both venues hosting business events.
King will join the business in September, relocating from Australia.
King has extensive experience across the Australian venue landscape including with Suncorp Stadium, ICC Sydney and Adelaide Entertainment Centre. He also recently stepped down as president of the Venue Management Association in Asia and the Pacific.
“Dunedin has built a phenomenal legacy as a world-class, ‘must-play’ destination for major acts touring New Zealand and the opportunity to lead DVML at this pivotal time is incredibly exciting,” said King.
