It was a historic double win for the centre in the 2026 Innovation Award given out during the association’s recent annual conference.
KLCC won the overall Innovation Award and the Delegates’ Choice Award.
The convention centre’s award submission focussed on the transformation of under-utilised spaces into new spaces that boost KLCC’s revenue.
Of note amongst these transformations was the adaptation of the Press Centre into modern meeting spaces.
“To receive both awards is an extraordinary honour, particularly as they represent recognition from two important groups – the AIPC board, who served as the judging panel, and delegates from convention centres around the world who attended the AIPC Annual Conference and voted for the People’s Choice Award,” said KLCC deputy general manager, Robert Hatton-Jones.
“The fact that this is the first time a single venue has received both accolades makes the achievement even more meaningful.
“This is not the finish line for us. If anything, it’s a reminder that there’s always another corner of the building worth a second look.”
The awards cap off a strong first half of the year for Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, which hosted more the 550 business events between January and June, drawing more than 810,000 delegates and delivering a RM 548 million (AU$193.5 million) economic impact for Malaysia.
The venue has multiple business events lined up for the second half of the year that are expected to draw over 10,000 delegates or visitors.
