The first flight for the new airport will take off at 11am on Sunday October 25, bound for the Gold Coast.
Qantas has today announced its first flight schedules for domestic services to and from Western Sydney International on both Jetstar and Qantas.
Jetstar is set to fly between WSI and Melbourne “up to” twice a day, while it will also operate four return flights a week to the Gold Coast and three return flights a week to Brisbane.
Gold Coast services will run on Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Sunday, while Brisbane services will depart Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday.
All of the Jetstar services will be on Airbus A320 aircraft, which have between 180 and 186 seats.
The Jetstar flights to Queensland have received support from the Queensland Government’s $75 million aviation incentive initiative, the Connecting Queensland Fund. The flights are estimated to be worth $192 million to Queensland over the first two years.
Qantas services will begin on March 28, 2027, with four return flights a week to both Melbourne and Brisbane. Both routes will fly on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays.
The Qantas flights will be operated on QantasLink Embraer E190 aircraft which have either 94 or 97 seats, including 10 or nine seats in business class.
“These Qantas and Jetstar services will give Western Sydney’s frequent business and leisure travellers more choice and flexibility to fly from Sydney’s new 24-hour gateway to some of our nation’s most popular east coast hubs, with flight[s] expected to grow over the years ahead,” said WSI CEO, Simon Hickey.
“Despite the ongoing global conflict that continues to challenge the industry, today’s domestic ticket launch is another vote of confidence in Western Sydney International Airport and the opportunities this rapidly growing region presents for the future of air travel in Greater Sydney.”
Qantas Group’s CEO, Vanessa Hudson, said the announcement of flights was “a major milestone for Australian aviation”.
“We’re excited by the potential of Western Sydney International Airport to spur local tourism and make aviation more accessible for millions of people in Western Sydney, who currently have to travel to Kingsford Smith to catch a flight.”
International flights on Air New Zealand and Singapore Airlines have already been announced for WSI, with the first Air New Zealand flight to depart the airport on October 26, headed for Auckland.
The first Singapore Airlines flight will touch down in Western Sydney in the late evening of November 23, arriving from Singapore.
Qantas will begin freight flights from WSI on July 27, 2026.
