The three Sydney-headquartered suppliers worked together on a 500-pax incentive from the USA and will now offer their collaborative model to others.

The catering, production and styling trio delivered across multiple events over five days for Carol Ann Payne-Johnson, president of The Travel Corner, Inc., and her client, Premier Financial Alliance.

Dining experiences included a progressive dinner at Watersedge at Campbell’s Stores on Sydney Harbour, where the venue hosted a noodle market, a neon disco, a harbour bar and a speakeasy lounge, a takeover of Luna Park and an after-hours shopping event at David Jones.

There was also a welcome at Sydney Town Hall and a closing event at Carriageworks.

“This wasn’t about delivering events in isolation,” said Laissez-Faire Catering’s general manager, Sara Flaksbard.

“It was about working closely with each venue to unlock what was possible within the space and then designing experiences that pushed those boundaries.

“By joining forces from the beginning, we were able to bring the client’s vision to life in a much more cohesive and impactful way.”

AV1’s managing director, Nigel Mintern, expressed a similar sentiment.

“When production, styling and catering are aligned from day one, it allows you to think differently about how a space can be used. That’s where the most impactful experiences are created,” he said.

Simply Seated’s founder, Belinda Porra, said the collaboration between the three businesses created a series of unique event settings.

“Each environment was designed to feel completely different,” she said.

“We were layering styling, furniture and spatial design to create experiences that felt immersive and considered from the moment guests arrived.

“The venues were transformed beyond themselves resulting in guests experiencing the spaces like no one has before and likely won’t again, given the bespoke nature of the collective design.”

The creative union evidently resulted in a very happy customer.

“I’ve been producing events around the world for 38 years, and this became one of the most supported and fascinating programs I’ve ever delivered,” said The Travel Corner president Payne-Johnson.

“When David [Quinn, Laissez-Faire’s head of sales] introduced me to Nigel and Belinda, we very quickly became what I consider to be the ‘dream team’.

“Each experience was completely different, yet the entire program flowed effortlessly. The level of collaboration was exceptional and the result was truly world-class.”

Laissez-Faire Catering, AV1 and Simply Seated will make their now tried-and-tested partnership available to other international incentive groups to deliver unique event experiences in Sydney.
