The new plan builds on what Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG) has achieved since it launched its first RAP in 2022.
Both FCM Meetings and Events and Corporate Traveller sit under the FCTG umbrella.
“Since FCTG first launched its Reconciliation Action Plan in 2022, we have made great inroads in our workplace and the broader industry,” said FCTG Australia’s managing director, James Kavanagh.
“Fast forward to now, we’re proud to be working through the second phase of our Innovate RAP; stronger, informed and committed to positive change.
“While we are pleased with how far we have come in our reconciliation journey, there is always more to be done.
“In this second iteration of our RAP, we strive to build on the work to date by offering real opportunities to benefit Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples.”
The new RAP includes 14 key actions and 68 deliverables which will move the company’s reconciliation efforts forward.
Actions include embedding Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander voices into the business, creating long-term First Nations partnerships, ensuring budgets reflect FCTG’s reconciliation commitments, providing ongoing education throughout the business and to suppliers in support of the RAP, providing better job opportunities for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples and hosting events during reconciliation weeks.
Through its first RAP, FCTG took several important actions, including forming a RAP working group, appointing a First Nations inclusion leader, providing cultural awareness training for all staff, putting together a First Nations Engagement Guidebook for suppliers and hosting events during National Reconciliation Week.
As part of its reconciliation commitments, last year, FCTG supported 39 Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander businesses with a $2.8 million spend.
“We’ve learned that true reconciliation isn’t about ticking boxes – it’s about challenging ourselves to create real, lasting change,” said FCTG First Nations inclusion leader, Lynne Mailata.
“Our RAP is a testament to that journey.
“As part of our approach, the Flight Centre Foundation continues to offer support and resources to communities worldwide, with contributions exceeding $20 million alongside various global initiatives.
“At FCTG, we’re proud to be on our second Innovate RAP. Focusing on deepening relationships with Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities, engaging our people and influencing change across the broader industry.”
