You've met under the clocks – now meet under Flinders Street station
Since 1910 when Flinders Street Station was first opened, Melburnians have been meeting under the station’s iconic clocks at its entrance, which even featured in a 1988 hit song by Weddings Parties Anything.

Now the Insta-famous station with its Edwardian Baroque design, complete with its Verdigris copper dome and broad arches, has a new event space available for groups.

And while meeting “under the clocks” is still a thing, this new venue at the station is physically underground.

Miss Gunn’s is a tip of the hat to Ada May Gunn who ran a Lounger’s Club under the station in the early 20th century.

According to venue manager, Rakesh Panda, the new venue, set amongst the foundations of the station, was a storage area before it was transformed in February into a stylish venue for small corporate groups of up to 60 for cocktails or 40 for dining.

Miss Gunn’s is open to the public Thursday, Friday and Saturday and Panda says it is available to hire for events from 11am to 11pm on request, but preferably on other days of the week.

It is down a set of stairs, which opens to a cool jazz vibe and dim lighting reminiscent of a speakeasy amid the backdrop of historic brickwork and timber.

There’s a small stage, with a monitor and microphone for simple presentations, perfect for the small corporate team to learn or network. The kitchen, which also services the Clocks venue on the Swanston Street ground level beside the Yarra, opens from 11am to provide a range of food options from canapes to sit down meals.

Panda says that for exclusive use a minimum spend on F&B is required.
